Hanifa Darwish is currently pursuing her bachelor's degree at Trinity College in Connecticut, United States. She majors in Computer Science and Mathematics and minors in Creative Writing. Working at the grassroots level in her home country of Afghanistan to empower women has always been a passion of hers. Before starting college in the United States, she volunteered in the Baale Parwaz Library to provide Afghan girls and women access to education they would otherwise not have had. This summer she is back to Kabul to open a library for Afghan children. Her love for reading and lack of reading culture in Afghanistan strengthen her abilities to stay hopeful and persevere to bring back our windswept reading culture.
