The Third Pride of the Afghan LGBTIQ+ Community

The Third Pride of the Afghan LGBTIQ+ Community

23 August 2025 – Bremen, Germany

On 23 August 2025, the Afghan LGBTIQ+ community came together for the third consecutive year on the streets of Bremen to raise their voices for resistance, solidarity, and human rights. This Pride stands as a symbol of the ongoing struggle against the oppression, fear, and violence imposed by the Taliban in Afghanistan, which continues to threaten the LGBTIQ+ community.

This gathering was more than a routine event. It sent a clear message to the world: the lives, dignity, and safety of LGBTIQ+ individuals cannot be ignored. We gathered to show that even in exile and migration, our voices will not be silenced, and the fight for equality continues.

On this day, we emphasized the following:

  • The urgent need to break the global silence on systematic violence and persecution by the Taliban against LGBTIQ+ individuals.
  • The establishment of safe and expedited pathways for those who remain at risk.
  • Transparency, accountability, and genuine protection of human rights in international decision-making and asylum policies.

This Pride is a reminder that our resistance is persistent, united, and fearless. We stand here, raising our voices, and we will continue to fight for justice, freedom, and the right to live with dignity.
